25th
Anniversary Harmony School Golf Outing set for May 1

This
year marks the 25th annual Harmony School Spring Golf Tournament.
Traditionally the earliest golf event of the spring, this year’s
date will be May 1. The location will again be Stone Crest Golf Community.
Proceeds
benefit the Harmony School scholarship program. The tournament memorializes
Gene Flander, a businessman, golfer and head of the Harmony Advisory
Board until his untimely death in 1987. It has been spearheaded for
many years by Miles Kanne, a retired Cook, Inc. executive who sits
on the Harmony School Advisory Board.
Over $7,000 in prizes will be awarded to the participants. The Sunday
schedule begins with continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and a shotgun
start at 8:30. Refreshments and snacks are offered throughout the
morning, and prizes are awarded during the luncheon that caps the
schedule. Fees are $400 for a foursome, which covers green fees, carts,
refreshments and lunch. There are still some Major Sponsorships and
Tee Sponsorships remaining. To sign up to play or for information
on sponsorships please call the school at 812-334-8379. Space is limited.

A
TRUE FAMILY EVENT
Normally a cross-country runner who might have participated
in the 10-K, Justine Jones said she came to last year’s
Fitness Extravaganza “to be with my family.” So,
she entered the Competitive Walk with her grandparents, aunt
and uncle, parents, and also three cousins. |
The scheduled
date for this Fall’s Harmony School/Oliver Winery Fitness Extravaganza
is set so please hold the date of Sunday, September 18. This will
be the 21st “running” of the event.
Offering something for nearly everyone, there will be a 10-K Run,
a 5-K Competitive Walk, a 3-Mile Scenic Stroll, and even a 1-Mile
Fun Run. A special consideration is that this event is held in the
beautiful fall colors of the Morgan/Monroe State Forest.
A fundraising event for Harmony School, the official sponsor is Oliver
Winery of Bloomington. With a reasonable entrance fee, lots of trophies
and prizes for all ages, and professional timing for the competitive
events, this running event is what one newspaper reviewer recently
termed “just the best.” Watch your mail or the newspaper
for more details later in the year.
