“It is for children that NSRF continues to critically examine school and schooling with an eye on equitable outcomes for each child.” Steven Strull, Director, National School Reform Faculty
National School Reform Faculty (NSRF) has been a part of Harmony since 2000. The program began in 1995 at the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University.

Steven Strull of Long Island, NY is the new director of NSRF. He leads the effort from his home in New York. He said, “It is for children that NSRF continues to critically examine school and schooling with an eye on equitable outcomes for each child.”

He points out that Friends Group Coaching Seminars have been the core of our work since our inception. “Equity is central to our mission and an equity lens is set in all our seminars,” he added.

"'Context Coaching' allows us to imbue our principles within the language and overarching strategy of a partnering agency’s paradigm.”

Executive Coaching is a new area of work that NSRF will be exploring and developing over the coming 12 months (i.e. re-imagining the district office in the service of the school house).

The greatest strength of NSRF is our national network and the understanding that for work to be embedded in a local context there should be strong local presence in the promotion and facilitation of NSRF work. My continued hope is that we can make a case together for a strong national office working with strong centers of activity across the country and, together, meet the high expectations of the people in the schools we serve.”

Welcome, Steven.

There is a deep growing interest in research related to NSRF, CFGs, and other efforts to create learning communities within schools. A one-day forum will be held on January 24 for researchers and practitioners to share their findings about the building of intentional learning communities in schools.

The leaders of 38 regional centers will meet to discuss their plans on January 28. It is open to all people to share learning, raise issues, and co-construct collective work as a national organization.
